Social Media The Job Search

Job Search 3.0 [Video]

The job market is so drastically different these days yet so many job seekers are still using the same old methods of job searching.  I thought to myself, this can’t simply be because people are choosing not to change their tactics, but rather, because they are not aware of the different strategies they should be using.  Certainly, if people only knew, they’d change their approach.  Thus, I decided I needed to make my first video blog (not counting the one I did using Xtranormal) to give job seekers a figurative slap in the face so they could wake up, realize that times have changed and get with the program.

Before teaching people about blogging, tweeting, using QR codes, and all the other tactics that exist, they must first understand why they should care.  Moreover, job seekers need to understand that these are more than mere suggestions to compete; they are requirements to stay relevant!  So, I hope you enjoy this presentation, but more importantly, I hope you learn something and I hope it inspires you to change your tactics.  Please share it with your friends and family who are looking for work.  It is under 25 minutes in length because I wanted to keep it short and sweet! By the way, if anyone has some awesome video software to recommend, let me know! I won’t say what I used, but it isn’t my favorite 🙂

Will you please send me the information about the Attributes Emplyers Considered During Hiring? Thanks!

  • Hi Robert.
I enjoyed the video and posted it through Scoop.it, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I work within the community and technical college system in Washington State, and I am constantly fishing for content surrounding the rise of the modern job seeker.
You asked for recommendations for video software. For this presentation, I would recommend Camtasia Studio 7. It is a screen capture program, but it works well with slides. I appreciate it because it is easy navigate and edit. In addition, it has some good call-out features allowing you to highlight, zoom in, and add text bubbles, which is nice when publishing on the web where the screen text may be difficult to read. It also allows for a variety of publishing formats including mobile. We use it to help students navigate different web based technology on campus and for online information sessions on professional/technical programs.

I hope this helps. I plan on staying connected to your site. I enjoy the content.

    VIVA!

    This was an amazing video.

I have been working with so many people who tend to shut down when I start talking about this topic. I struggle with ways to stress the importance of these career changes due to the vast resistance. I think this video will truly make a difference.

Thank you so much, and I can’t wait to share this information.
